Currency
The Bangladeshi Taka (BDT / ৳) is the local currency. USD is the easiest to exchange; EUR and GBP are also widely accepted at banks. ATMs are common in cities — Standard Chartered, HSBC, Dutch-Bangla and City Bank accept most international cards. We recommend carrying USD 200–300 in cash for tips, markets and rural stops.
Cards & Digital Payments
Major hotels and mid-range restaurants accept Visa and Mastercard. Amex is patchy. We invoice all trips in USD and accept international wire, Wise and cards (3% processing fee).
Weather by Season
- Winter (Nov – Feb): 12–25°C, dry, clear — the best time to visit
- Spring (Mar – Apr): 24–35°C, warm and dry, festivals season
- Monsoon (May – Sep): 26–33°C, heavy rain, lush green Sundarbans
- Autumn (Oct): 24–30°C, cooling, beautiful post-monsoon light
What to Pack
Lightweight breathable clothing year-round. A light fleece for winter mornings on Sundarbans boats. Modest clothing (shoulders and knees covered) for mosques and rural villages. Sturdy walking shoes for tea gardens and hill tracts.
